For over a year now they have been playing in basement squats, trashy bars, underground clubs, and rehearsed in rooms where piss was literally raining from the ceiling to bring you the fruits of their sweet labour: LOVE & RAGE is the title of their DEBUT EP.
Their name is LILAC ATTITUDE and you better believe it! It’s not merely a name but a promise: to go ahead and follow your heart no matter the outcome. It’s basically how they approach their
whole existence as a band. Just ask blasphemic environmentalists Jacky & Daisy who got with each other by drinking, spraying and showering themselves in cans of beer in a foreign church, and who started the band with musicologist flatmate Raku by getting gigs first and time to rehearse second. In the end, it was possibly the youngest and newest in the band, beatkeeper Squid who sets them straight on most days.
>> The five tracks on their DEBUT EP are classic & contemporary. It’s teenage angst combined with a Gen Z twist. You can hear some of the Greats in there, from HOLE to X Ray Spex to KLEENEX and about a thousand obscure no-hit wonders from the 70s to the 90s stroboverse. But as the tradition of DIY punk persists, LILAC ATTITUDE is different: “Floral Punk” – they call it.
All songs are original compositions and recorded live in the studio. Mixed by Gordon Raphael (Hinds, The Strokes) to strike the balance between momentary sweat and eternal grandeur; you might’ve heard the songs played at one of their many shows this past year. Give it a listen! Are you in love yet?
